Through consultation with parents, pupils, governors and members of staff, the following statement details the clothing to be worn by pupils in school. We emphasise that school is a place for learning and that pupils should not be competing with each other in terms of fashion trends.
Choice of two colours - royal blue and red. Wearing of sweatshirts/cardigans with the school logo is optional. If you choose to purchase a sweatshirt without the school logo it is important that no other logo is worn. In Year 6 ‘leavers’ badges (for plain black t-shirts/hoodies) and ‘leavers’ t-shirts can be purchased. This is a privilege for the final year in school.
Choice of three colours – white, royal blue and red. Wearing of polo shirts with the school logo is optional. If you choose to purchase a polo shirt without the school logo it is important that no other logo is worn.
Trousers/Jogger Bottoms/Skirts/Leggings/Pinafore Dresses/Culottes
Black or dark grey. If jogger bottoms are worn they must be plain, without logo. Fleece Jackets If fleeces are to be worn in school they must be either royal blue or red.
These should be of a sensible type without high heels or thick soles. If parents/carers prefer their child to wear sensible dark coloured trainers without large bright logos, they may do so. Trainers with flashing lights, heelies or similar are not part of the school dress code.
The only jewellery permitted is one stud per ear and a watch. The child must be able to remove the earrings for PE, games or swimming lessons themselves or not wear them for PE days. Necklaces, bracelets and rings are not part of the school dress code and should not be worn. Any watches must not be classed as smart watches with any additional connectivity or connection to a mobile phone/cellular network.
Extreme hairstyles, gelled or waxed or ‘cult style’ are not part of school life. Special hairstyles can be kept for non-uniform days. We recommend that children with long hair keep the hair tied back or up during the school day and certainly during PE, games and swimming lessons.
Your child should come to school in their PE kit on PE days. PE kit consists of a white tshirt, black shorts/leggings/jogging bottoms, black sweatshirt/hoodie (no logos) and a pair of black trainers. Earrings should not be worn on PE days.
Swimming trunks or lycra shorts (not swimming shorts) or a one-piece swimsuit must be worn. This is the Kirklees policy for children attending their school swimming classes. Earrings must be removed. All pupils are required to wear a swimming cap.
Children should bring appropriate clothing to change into (warm waterproof clothing in the winter, trousers and t-shirts in the summer, wellies or other appropriate shoes). Parents should note that these clothes may well become dirty due to the nature of the lessons.
Summer Dress Code
